Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he rotated at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before sliding over the escape zone, and was fortunate to get away with just a light touch of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn approaching the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th place, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, over half a second behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
